During this discussion there was a lot that was covered, a lot that was brought up and a lot of problems and disagreements. Between the colonists and the natives there was a lot of similarities such as wanting to populate, not die, and trade. At the first the discussion was very argumentative, a lot of of blame was being thrown around and many people were unsatisfied with the other. However once it was brought to our attention that we should come up with some sort of compromise, natives and colonists were able to come to a peaceful understanding. The colonists ended up agreeing with the native’s ( my group’s) terms and each demand was met in a respectful way. Each of the groups played their role in ways I did not expect, for example the colonists were more mad at the promoters for leaving them to die and the promoters seemed not to care or be concerned in the least bit. Everyone was ready to blame someone for their predicament. The most interesting points however from my perspective was that the promoters didn’t seemed bothered at all by what was happening, they just knew that they had money and money was power. Overall it was a really interesting period and I learned a lot about history, more than I would in a regular lecture
