One of the reasons I wanted to do this time and place was because it was such an influential and fascinating time period. I learned a lot about the politics, the revolution, and the daily lives of the people. For example I learned that the Shah at the time, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, thought that all the protests against him was an international conspiracy. During that time period Iran’s main problem was government vs people, which is super relevant to problems today.
My personal favorite artifact was the timeline actually, I loved the aesthetic of it and how well it fit into the presentation. I thought it was really informative and gave a lot of valuable and relevant information about Iran, before and during the 80s
I learned that the political aspect of the war, specifically the Shah during the Iranian Revolution, was extremely interesting. Like I previously stated, the Shah had a lot of fanciful ideas about the protests amongst the people. This frustrated the people immensely and soon the conflict between government and people became violent
I would say to either pick between this project or the world's fair one, they are both way to similar and it felt really repetitive. I liked doing this one more than the world's fair though however, I felt like we had the opportunity to talk about really controversial moments in history, and be able to educate others on it as well.
The book that Lillie and I decided to read was Maman’s homesick pie by Donia Bijar. This related to our decade and location because Donia herself lived in Iran during the Iranian Revolution and wrote about the struggles and violence that went on during that time. For example her family was forced to move all the way to California due to the rising political and social conflict.
